HISTORY
Radio Apna’s holding company Apna Networks Limited was incorporated in 2003. In the space of 12 months, Radio Apna made its presence felt in Auckland and became the first Indian radio station to operate 24 hours 7 days a week.

Resources were poured into shipping the highest quality studio and transmission equipment. The latest in transmitters, mixers and coders were sourced from globally renowned suppliers based in the

United States and Canada. No cost was spared in ensuring that Radio Apna 990am set the standards for quality of broadcast and coverage in each of its local markets.

ACHIEVEMENTS
Since launching the first 24 hour Hindi Radio station in New Zealand in 2003, Radio Apna has gone from strength to strength. Today, becoming a house hold name, Apna’s channel strength can also be gauged from the total daily text messages on 299’s platform, which tallies over 2000 messages per day. In January 2009 the station collected around $200 000 through its 54 hour Radiothon for the flood affected victims of Fiji which is the biggest collection in any Radio around the country.

Not surprisingly Radio Apna is also a favourite with advertisers and has pulled crowds during its Captain Zorro promotions where shoppers had to be turned away and doors shut as the advertises could not cope with people turnning up.
